This year’s event is taking over Armadillo Den, one of my favorite spots in South Austin. The outdoor space is spacious enough that even with a big crowd, you never feel crammed in. Last time the DJ kept the vibe going all day with a perfect playlist and the vendors were friendly, fun, and ready to keep the energy high.
There are two entry times, but if you ask me the 12 PM early entry ticket is the way to go. You get first dibs on fresh rounds of tacos and margaritas, shorter lines, cooler weather, and more time to explore. One thing about me, I will always choose the early option.
Parking at Armadillo Den has expanded a bit, but with the number of people expected, rideshare or carpooling is still the best choice. The venue has grassy areas with large trees for shade, making it easy to relax between tastings. Armadillo Den usually hosts five food trucks including Biggie’s Yardbird, Via 313, Los Danzantes, Strut and Dorothy, and Atlas Sandwich Company. Last time I had shrimp from Strut and it was a solid 10 out of 10.
The margarita sampling sizes are perfect for pacing yourself. You get enough to enjoy the flavors without overdoing it too fast. By the end of my last visit, I had a nice buzz and that was all I needed. The tacos are made fresh by some of Austin’s best vendors and pair perfectly with margaritas from top local bartenders.
This year’s festival will also feature a live DJ, mouthwatering street food, a beer garden, frozen drinks, and a chance to win a trip to Mexico. A portion of proceeds will go to children’s charities, so you can sip and snack for a good cause.
I am also giving away tickets to the festival so make sure you check out my Instagram post for all the details on how to enter: Click here to join the giveaway.
If you plan on going, send me a message and let me know. I will see y’all there with a taco in one hand and a margarita in the other.
