Hi there! This is my first personal post, and hopefully the first of many because this is the main reason I started this blog. Somewhere along the way I got a little side tracked haha. Those of you that have been able to relate to me so far, sit down, grab your favorite drink, and let’s chat for a bit.
It’s been a chaotic and fun year already. I only started taking content creation seriously at the tail end of 2024 and things took off quickly. I didn’t know what to expect with all of this, but I realized pretty fast that I’m living my wildest dreams. The affirmations I used to write in my journal are now my everyday reality. Can we get a round of applause for that?
I’ve been able to do collabs with festivals, new bars and restaurants, and even my first out of town collab in Corpus Christi. Hopefully that opens more doors for future travel content. A huge win for me this year was being voted by Austinites into the Top 10 Influencers in Austin on Austin.com. The amount of people who tagged me as their favorite creator had me in tears. I didn’t realize my work was impacting anyone on that level. It was the inspiration I didn’t even know I needed.
Something else I’m really excited for this year is becoming a fiancée. My boyfriend of six years and I have been planning and talking about marriage for a while now. A while ago we went into Blue Nile at the Domain and he let me design my own engagement ring from the stone to the cut, clarity, and every detail. Later he confirmed he ordered the ring exactly to my specs, so you can imagine how ready I’ve been for all of this to come together.
I recently got French tips done for the first time (per his request wink wink) along with a fresh set of braids. At this point every date night feels suspicious but that’s what makes it fun, building the anticipation. For anyone wondering, we’ve decided to elope at the courthouse with a few trusted friends and family, then head straight into our honeymoon. As we’ve matured, we realized that putting on a big wedding doesn’t align with our values anymore. Instead of spending a huge amount of money on a one-day event, we’d rather go all out on an unforgettable honeymoon and save for a down payment on a home. Honestly, that makes me ten times more excited for the ring. Planning a tropical getaway for two sounds a whole lot better than stressing over logistics for 75+ guests. Ya girl still needs to get her passport, but that’s coming up soon! And just know, once the engagement announcement drops, it will be my personality for at least a month.
On the collab side, I have a lot of new projects coming up including a dining experience at La Wagyeria, Float On Boat Rentals, and the Margarita Festival for the second time this year. I’ve also soft-launched something I’m planning for 2026: a new couples meetup series. It doesn’t have an official name yet, but it will be all about creating genuine community for couples who are dating, engaged, or married. Think of it like a group date night where couples can meet others, talk about values and goals, and hopefully find that forever friend group.
To be transparent, my boyfriend and I have been through situations where we poured love, energy, and support into people who didn’t value us in the same way. They wanted to maintain superficial ties but weren’t honest or reciprocal. For the longest time, we were frustrated, not at them, but at ourselves for begging the wrong people for community. If you’ve ever felt this way, keep your eyes open because as soon as the engagement is out of the way, I’m diving into planning this series. Let’s put meaning back into community.
On the travel side, I’ve got a trip to New Orleans in October. This will be my third time visiting, and I’m ready to revisit favorites and discover new places to gush about. Expect a whole NOLA series this fall.
Somewhere in all this chaos, I’ve also started preparing to go back to school for a degree in public relations and communications. Luckily, I’ve had amazing guidance from a Black woman publicist I admire. That’s rare to see in the PR space, and it’s been refreshing and motivating. Diversity has always been a priority for me, and part of why I take content creation so seriously. For a long time Austin didn’t feel as diverse as people thought it was. Only recently have I seen more Black, Latino, Asian, and brown influence in industries where it really matters, and I love that.
Wrapping it up
So that’s where I’m at, balancing collabs, prepping for engagement, planning new projects, and mapping out the next chapter. I’m pumped for fall 2025 and everything rolling into 2026. Thank you for following along with me, supporting me, and being part of this journey.
Now tell me in the comments, what are you most excited about for the rest of this year?
