My interest in pool started early; my grandparents turned their garage into a full-on party room, and right in the middle was a pool table that never stayed empty. No matter where they moved, that table came with them. My grandma especially loved it, and yeah… that definitely stuck with me.

So anytime I go out, I’m always noticing which spots actually have a good setup and a good vibe.

I’ve put together a list of bars in Austin where you can play pool, but the experience isn’t just about the table. These aren’t your typical billiards halls; these are places you’d go out to anyway.

🎱 Bars With Pool Tables in Austin

Low Down Lounge

Super casual spot with a back patio and a rotating lineup of events. It’s the kind of place where something is always happening, even if you didn’t plan on it. The pool table fits right into that laid-back, anything-goes energy.

Seven Grand

A spirit-forward bar with elevated cocktails and a more polished vibe. There’s a back patio plus a stage that regularly hosts DJs and live music, so it can shift from chill to lively pretty quickly. Good mix of pool, drinks, and atmosphere.

The Grackle

An unassuming whiskey bar with a surprisingly cool personality once you’re inside. It has a super inclusive, relaxed vibe, a front patio, and even a dart board if you want to switch it up from pool. Definitely one of those “don’t judge it from the outside” spots.

Busty’s

Retro feel with two different patios and a ton of space to spread out. This place stands out for its food and drink specials just as much as the pool table. It’s an easy go-to when you want a full night, not just a quick drink.

King Bee

A small East Side staple with a very “come as you are” energy. It’s not trying to be anything extra, and that’s exactly why it works. Casual, local, and easy to settle into for a few games.

Crow Bar

More of a metal/rock-leaning crowd, with a darker, gothic vibe. Even then, it’s still approachable – people were open to jumping in and playing pool. If you like your nightlife with a little edge, this fits.

Black Sheep Lodge

Known for food and drink specials, plus a big back patio and tons of TVs for sports. It’s a solid hangout spot if you want pool and game-day energy. The burgers, fried jalapeños, and pickles hit hard – no exaggeration.

Dog House Drinkery + Dog Park

Super laid-back spot where you can bring your dog, grab a drink, and play pool. It’s a community-type place more than anything. You do need proof of recent vaccinations for pups, which keeps it safe for everyone.

East End Ballroom

A mix of everything – drinks, concerts, good food, and a pool table right in the center of it all. The vibe shifts depending on what’s going on, so it works whether you’re there early, late, or in between plans.

Barfly’s

The Library Bar

Shangri-La

Lala’s Little Nugget

Stargazer Bar

Kitty Cohen’s

The White Horse

Hole in the Wall

The Aristocrat Lounge

Barton Srings Saloon

⭐ My Personal Favorites

If I had to narrow it down, I’m going with the Busty’s every time. They pass the vibe check consistently, and always come through with food and drink specials.

If you care about table quality, the setups at Seven Grand, East End Ballroom, and Stargazer tend to be in better condition than most.

What Makes These Spots Different

Not every place with a pool table is somewhere you actually want to hang out. That’s the difference here.

Each of these bars brings something outside of just playing pool – whether it’s the crowd, the music, or just the overall energy. That’s something Austin does really well… spots don’t try to blend in.

🔚 Closing

Next time you’re out and feel like playing a game or two, save this list. Way better than ending up somewhere that feels like a tournament you didn’t sign up for.
